NOTE: Some of the following information is not yet confirmed and is in the air.

One Direction, often shortened to 1D, is an English-Irish pop boy band formed in London, England in 2010. The group is composed of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and former member Zayn Malik, who departed from the group in 2015.

Propelled to global success by social media, One Direction’s five albums, Up All Night (2011), Take Me Home (2012), Midnight Memories (2013), Four (2014), and Made in the A.M. (2015), topped charts in most major markets, and generated hit singles including “What Makes You Beautiful“, “Live While We’re Young“, “Best Song Ever“, “Story of My Life” and “Drag Me Down“.

Although they started off as strangers on the UK’s reality competition series, One Direction quickly became notable for their chemistry. They lost that season, but fan demand led to a recording contract soon after.

In 2011, the group released their debut album Up All Night and over the following years became a stadium-filling touring act.

In 2015, Zayn Malik abruptly left the group, leaving them as a quartet. The remaining members released one final album later that year — Made in the A.M. — before announcing their hiatus. Since then, each member has released at least one full-length solo album.

Ever since the hiatus, fans have been wondering when a reunion might come

And, the Stylison interaction came just a few months after Horan, Styles, and Tomlinson followed Zayn Malik on Twitter in April. Additionally, Liam Payne hinted in not one, but two interviews that the guys have been in touch with “a lot more at the moment.”

One Direction was formed on July 23rd, 2010 & now 10 years later in 2020, it’s time to celebrate 1D’s 10th anniversary in style.

According to a release announcing the 1D birthday, a “10 Years of One Direction” website will launch on July 23 that promises to be an “immersive and exciting interactive fan experience.”

Though no URL has been announced at press time, the site promises a timeline charting the group’s history, from their first Factor audition to their 2016 indefinite hiatus. The site promises music videos, artwork, TV performances, behind-the-scenes and rarely-seen content.

The site will also allow Directioners to post their own shareable mixtape playlists, which will be personalized based on how they’ve interacted with the site’s content and the eras they’ve spent the most time diving into. You’ll also be able to connect to some streaming services and save your mixtape playlists to your account.

A new anniversary celebration video will also be released on the anniversary day documenting highlights from the band’s career, from their formation to their “History” single, with music video clips, performances, and candid behind-the-scenes videos. Streaming platforms will also host reformatted EPs, with b-sides, rare songs, remixes, live recordings, and acoustic tracks.

The release also promises “exciting activations across music streaming services, including creating and updating One Direction playlists.”

One Direction sent fans into a frenzy with its first tweet in two years: an announcement celebrating the group’s 10th anniversary.

“Tomorrow! You and me got a whole lot of history #10YearsOf1D,” One Direction shared Wednesday on Twitter and Instagram. A simple black-and-white graphic was also posted, with the words “10 Years of One Direction.”

It’s been a decade since the popular boy band got together on “The X Factor,” and fans on Twitter can hardly contain their excitement. Some are brewing interesting theories about what surprises will come on the anniversary, like a reunion tour, while others are sharing their thoughts on their childhood favorites.

There is also speculation of a large number of things to happen today

Including, new music that is unheard of by the fans, and for them to do a special even with James Corden based on Instagram stories of a rumored production employee of his show.

One Direction had also released Vertical Videos for a few of their songs on Spotify, as well as added more tracks which were previously unreleased, such as “Truly Madly Deeply”, to a playlist called, “Take Me Home (Expanded Edition )”

There also were rumors that the band plans on dropping the “infinity” music video, one that is long-awaited by fans since forever, however, those were denied.
