The news of a Nick Fury Disney Plus series came from Variety which confirmed that Samuel L. Jackson will be reprising the role. They also mentioned that Kyle Bradstreet, executive producer of Mr. Robot will be the show runner. The show is in production and Variety confirms that it is most likely to be green lit to be a series.

It is not clear when the show will be releasing, only that it will be long after the initial WandaVision series and the consecutive Falcon and Winter Soldier and Loki series- which have already been delayed from a late 2020 to a 2021 release. Captain Marvel 2 is supposed to lead the charge in the start of Phase 5 and will obviously be filled with adequate amounts of cosmic elements to transition into Fury’s narrative.

The last look that viewers had gotten of Fury was what seemed to be of him on a Skrull spaceship while Talos impersonates him on earth. There are theories that predict that this is where he creates S.H.I.E.L.D’s spin-off organization- S.W.O.R.D (Sentient World Observation and Response Department). This is essentially an organization to detect and deter bigger cosmic threats in space. There are multiple stories and issues of Nick Fury in the comic books where it has him preparing a new-age group of young individuals to defend earth and even one where he has a son- Nick Fury Jr. These are only some of the numerous possibilities this new show can take.
