Sony has confirmed that Spider-Man (2018) Remaster will not be a free upgrade for those who already own Spider-Man PS4.
Sony sentenced a statement to Kotaku which reads as follows, “There are no plans currently to offer Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered as a standalone. Players with a copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS4 can purchase Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition to experience Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered on the PS5. Marvel’s Spider-Man PS4 will also be backwards compatible with the PS5.” This made it clear that Spider-Man PS4 will be able to run on the PS5, but the remaster will only be included alongside the new release Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It will be bundled in the ultimate edition as a remaster, including all of the DLCs so you can keep up with the narrative.
This only makes sense because the PS4 PRO is already optimized to give 30FPS which is what most PS4 exclusives run on to give the best performance. Next generation hardware should be able to breeze over the same and give a satisfying experience with the remastered game. Check out Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales on the PS5 below.
